BeCRO was launched in January 2010 by 19 founding members. During its first year of existence, BeCRO participated to several Belgian and International Conferences, including the DIA Euromeeting in Monaco and the Partnerships in Clinical Trials in Vienna where the Belgian Café attracted over 150 decision-makers of the pharmaceutical industry.

In November of that year, BeCRO organized its first workshop on “Legal aspects of the cooperation between Sponsors and CROs”. BeCRO concluded its first year with the BeCRO Clinical Research Gala that attracted almost 100 industry executives. Since then, many events have followed and the Gala has become an annual event.

To date, BeCRO has 30 members ranging from major international full-service CROs to niche CROs and is further growing. Over time, BeCRO has become a leading voice in the Belgian R&D industry, representing its members towards the other stakeholders, including the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industry, the authorities, the investigational sites and last but not least the patients.

Since BeCRO joined EUCROF (European CRO Federation) in March 2010, its members participated and contributed to several EUCROF initiatives. A great example of our contribution can be found in the organisation of the first EUCROF conference on the future of Europe in the worldwide scene of clinical research, which was held in Brussels in 2013 and which was mainly driven by BeCRO board members.
