BREAKING: The FAMPH has published the Compendium on Biobank legislation

On February 5th 2018, the Royal Decree on the Belgian Biobank Legislation, regarding the procurement and use of human substances destined for human medical applications or for scientific research purposes, was published. If you make use of human cell line and human samples for your research, a notification to FAMPH of your organisation as an official ‘Biobank’ is required.

We are pleased to inform you that on 30 July 2018, the FAMPH has published on its website a Compendium to guide you through this new Biobank legislation and to answer your questions regarding the scope of this Law, the implementation and notification procedures, consent of the donor, ethics committee, manager of the biobank, … and many more. This Compendium was built by the FAMPH after consultation with stakeholders, from various sectors, impacted by the legal provisions on biobanks.

This Compendium as well as the Royal Decree can be found on the FAMPH website

We hope this Compendium will answer your questions and support you with the implementation of the Belgian Biobank Legislation within your organisation.
